The Segwit2X (S2X) plan to upgrade Bitcoin has failed gloriously, but the opposite side does not seem ready to make amends and let it rest the whole thing rest in the past. A new rap song by "crypto rapper," CoinDaddy, mocks the S2X project and names Jihan Wu, Roger Ver, John McAfee and Jeff Garzik as belonging to a "Ver Cabal" that is "stealing all your money."
Apparently, the song is a satire, but the lyrics do add steam to a highly controversial issue, the Bitcoin Scaling Debate, which has led bitcoin community to a rift with lots of name-calling from either side. The video, already published on YouTube, features a photo of Roger Ver. This is the video of "The Siphoning":
These are the lyrics as published on YouTube by CoinDaddy:
CHORUS 0:44
Welcome to The Siphoning
There’s gonna be a siphoning
Draining all your money fast as light-e-ning
Welcome to The Siphoning
Welcome to The Siphoning bitch they stealing all your money
S2X flipped they left you with the funny money
Mcafee and Jihan Wu, Korea Too, and the Roger Crew,
S2X group running game on you
You thought that this shit was new? It was planned
Long con shakingblowin out the weak hands
Daddy saw it coming, made the flip
Crypto raconteur straight shorting the dip
Garzik sold you out
You were played
He was paid
Billy made
Core was shamed
Bitcoin gamed
Pride was slain
Went insane
Fresh champagne
Wealth ingrained
Found a bitch
Ran some train
Cleaned the stain
And now they’ll do it all again
Bitcoins gonna live
Bitcoins gonna live
Bitcoins gonna live
Bitcoins gonna live
I’m a fair-weather rockafellar sweater wearing crypto playa
Slingin crack coins in the market like they tic tac flavors
Ya’ll getting weary while we do this for fun
And now the Ver Cabal has got you under their thumb
It’s already going down so don’t you try to resist
You’re just another fool thinking free money exists
Dumped your coins too early you aren’t fit for the market
You want this to be over but its just getting started
Welcome to The Siphoning
CHORUS
Welcome to The Siphoning
There’s gonna be a siphoning
Draining all your money fast as light-e-ning
Welcome to The Siphoning
*Note that it says Roger VEER. Not Ver. All similarities are purely coincidental
Of course, members of the Bitcoin Core side, who strongly opposed S2X, were quick to share the video with their followers. For instance, Blockstream's Adam Back tweeted the video while making parallels to the Bitcoin Cash price rally last week, which he called "pump manipulation":
