Obelisk's First ASIC Miner for Decred (DCR) On Pre-Sale For $2,499

Obelisk, a subsidiary of the Nebulous company which created SiaCoin (SC), announced the pre-sale of 4,000 Obelisk DCR1 ASIC miners for Decred (DCR) along with another 4,000 Obelisk SC1 ASIC miners for SiaCoin (SC).

According to Obelisk, the Obelisk DCR1 miner will be capable of 475 GH/s while consuming less than 500W of power.

The Obelisk SC1 miner will be capable of 300+ GH/S at 500W or less power consumption.

The ASIC chips are designed by a US semiconductor company called Custom Silicon Solutions. According to Obelisk, "they have been designing ASICs for over 20 years, and have previously designed SHA256 ASICs for Bitcoin mining".

Both ASIC miners by Obelisk are priced at $2,499, including power supply, and come with a six week exclusive mining period along with a $250 per-unit bonus coupon for future purchases.

Although Decred and SiaCoin are altcoins using a variation of Blake hashing algorithm, each miner will only be able to mine one coin not both.

The pre-sale will be live until November 24th.

At the time of writing, the DCR1 has sold 30 units out of 4,000 max pre-orders, while the SC1 machine has already sold 2,090 units (of  4,000 max).

Obelisk expects to ship the miners before June 30th, 2018.

The pre-order means these miners are not yet a ready-to-launch product. They are still in development thus interested parties better be extra careful especially regarding specifications which tend to change.
