The good news about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies adoption are more and more common these days, as the announcement by the famous Icelandic musician Björk shows.
Known to be experimental, Björk announced that her latest album, Utopia which will be available on November 24, can be purchased through cryptocurrencies. The artist is partnering with British startup Blockpool to accept Bitcoin, Litecoin, DASH, and AudioCoin.
Björk not only will let fans buy the record with cryptocurrency, but she will also give them digital cash as a reward. Whoever purchases Utopia will get 100 Audiocoins.
Audiocoin is a two-year-old cryptocurrency designed initially for the music industry and is currently worth around $0.19.
The musician fans will be able to earn more crypto by interacting with Bjork online and attending her concerts.
Marketing strategy?
The move by the musician may seem like a marketing twist to steal some attention as the Bitcoin price rises frantically. Kevin Bacon of Blockpool thinks otherwise:
"This really isn’t a marketing strategy with Björk. This is a decision to be a leader. In fact, it’s just the obvious thing to do for her. If I wasn’t involved in this project, I’d expect Björk to be a leader in this area, and for her team to be doing creative things with crypto.”
