Amazon.com, the online shopping and tech giant, appears to have registered interesting domain names recently. According to whois records, they have registered three domains related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
The three domain names that Amazon seems to have registered are:

- amazoncryptocurrency.com and
- amazonethereum.com

All these three suggest that the American electronic commerce and cloud computing behemoth, might ready itself for new ventures which have something to do with cryptocurrencies and the Ethereum blockchain.
For weeks now, rumors circulate insisting that Amazon will announce Bitcoin as a means of payment.
But the new report about domain name registrations by Amazon leaves room for even more speculations. One might also suggest that the American company is preparing to issue its Ethereum-based cryptocurrency.
At the same time, we should not rush into conclusions. Amazon, like every company of such size, could just buy these domains names as a defensive measure for brand protection.
